LINWOOD, Renfrewshire, Scotland — A major police investigation remains underway after a 49-year-old woman was allegedly struck by a vehicle in what authorities are treating as an attempted murder in Linwood.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 30 on Clippens Road, near Our Lady of Peace Nursery School, prompting a significant response from emergency services and Police Scotland officers.
According to Police Scotland, investigators believe the vehicle was deliberately driven at the woman before the driver fled the scene. Emergency responders attended quickly, and the victim was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. She has since been released from hospital after receiving medical care.
Following an investigation, police arrested an 18-year-old man, who has since been charged in connection with the incident. Authorities confirmed he appeared before Paisley Sheriff Court, where he faced charges including attempted murder, assault, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and threatening or abusive behaviour.
During the court appearance, the accused made no plea. He was granted bail, and the case has been continued as the investigation progresses through the judicial process.
Detectives continue to carry out extensive inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged attack. Investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or who were in the Clippens Road area around the time it occurred to come forward.
